Experience Abisko in all its splendor as summer turns to fall.
The days become shorter and shorter and the colorful northern lights appear during the evenings.
Start your evening with a three course dinner in Abisko Tourist Station's “Kungsleden” restaurant before taking a chairlift up to Aurora Sky Station. The ride in the chairlift over the mountain slopes in the National Park is an experience in itself as your eyes become accustomed to the darkness and more and more stars begin to twinkle in the night sky.
Once you've made your way up to Aurora Sky Station you'll find conditions almost ideal – often clear polar night skies with an unrestricted view over the surrounding mountains and valleys with nearly no disturbing background light from roads, houses or villages. Here too you can see an informative exhibition about the Northern Lights, there's a cosy café and, not least, knowledgeable guides who make scheduled outdoor visits a couple of times during the evening as well as being on hand to answer your questions.
Aurora Sky Station is open from nine in the evening until midnight.
