More about STF Alesjaure Mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins usually do not have electricity, and mobile phone coverage often does not reach them. This means that our cabin managers do not have the facilities required to handle a modern booking system. If you have paid for accommodation in advance, you will be met by a welcoming and dedicated cabin manager who will not know about your advance payment. The manager will, naturally, ensure that you obtain the best possible accommodation. If you provided extra information in the “Comments” field when making your booking, we will do everything in our power to inform the cabin manager of this. We hope, however, that you understand that this is not always possible. Remember to take confirmation of your prepayment with you.
Leavas Sámi village has a summer camp close to Alesjaure. Socially structured, a Sámi village or siida is a reindeer foraging area, a group for reindeer herding and a corporation working for the economic benefit of its members all in one. If you are here at the beginning of July, there is a good chance to participate in the Sámi calf marking. The waterfall on the east side of Alesjaure is also worth a day tour. The hiking extends past the Sámi village and onward several kilometres. After a long day in the mountains, the warmth of a wood heated sauna and the cold of a dip in the stream make for a wonderful combination.
Many find their way here during the winter to go telemark skiing on the nice slopes in the area. For those searching for bigger challenges, there are also demanding day tours to the nameless peak at 1,835 m.a.s.l., located 7 kilometres east of STF Alesjaure. The advanced mountain climber can look to the peak of Kåtotjåkkatoppen, 1,991 m.a.s.l., as a demanding alpine ski tour.
