About the accommodation

Baggå Skola BnB is located in pastoral Hedströmsdalen, between Västmanland and Dalarna. The area offers hundreds of fishing and swimming lakes and great hiking opportunities in untouched wilderness. Welcome to peace, nature and incredible local dining!

Baggå Skola Bed and Breakfast is a small and personal BnB located in a 19th century school house, about nine kilometers outside Skinnskatteberg in northern Västmanland, on the border with Dalarna. Baggå village dates all the way back to the 16th century and was known for its mills, forge, and dairy. Today the old remains of industry are hidden in the bushes. The general store and gas station closed down long ago, but the village is near the small community of Skinnskatteberg, where supplies can be bought.

We, Amy and Tomas, have been running Baggå Skola BnB & Café for many years. We had just moved back from abroad and fell in love with the building and the magical surroundings in Hedströmsdalen. We have converted the old school halls into a BnB & café and opened a small thrift shop in the barn. When staying at Baggå Skola BnB, you get strong coffee, homemade yogurt and freshly baked bread for breakfast, all year round. Our small size makes us a popular choice for smaller groups and family reunions – you can rent the whole house for events such as corporate conferences, bachelor parties, family gatherings etc.

The small village of Baggå is made up of a scattering of farms in a beautiful mixed meadow and woodland valley, next to a meandering stream. Enjoy the quiet, the fresh air and the wonderful nature experiences. At Baggå Skola BnB you stay comfortably in individually furnished rooms and with a warm welcome. Come to enjoy the tranquility, the surrounding wilderness and the home-cooked food.

Accessible

The accommodation is fully accessible according to STF’s requirements. These range from wide doorways, to vibrating fire alarms and high contrast markings. We have chosen to prioritize disabilities based on movement, hearing and vision – including guide dogs and assistance dogs.     Travel options
    By train
    Take the train or a VL bus to Skinnskatteberg C. We can pick you up and drop you off for a small fee.

    On foot
    Hike along the Romboleden trail (Köping-Trondheim) and stay in Baggå, where you are welcome to stay in one of our rooms or in a wind shelter down by Hedströmmen. Hikers on the Romboleden trail are welcome to stop by for free coffee at Baggå Skola Café.

    Hike along the Bruksleden trail to/from the ancient Malingsbo Manor and stop in Baggå after Ormdalen, just a stone's throw away. You can continue your hike via the beautiful viewpoint at Matkullen and on to Skinnskatteberg, maybe spending the night at Kolarbyn Ecolodge?

    On bicycle
    Bike along Road 233 (or the old county road south of Road 233) until you see signs for Malingsbo/Kloten. We are located just across the road. Bicycle racks are available on the front and on the short side. Indoor bicycle parking is available.

    By car
    Baggå Skola BnB is located on Road 233 between Skinnskatteberg and Kopparberg, about 5km from Road 68 between Lindesberg and Gävle. The drive from Stockholm takes around two hours, or one hour from Västerås, Örebro or Borlänge. Charging points for electric or hybrid cars are available in the car park next to the school.
