Welcome to Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotell, a unique gem at Nedre Dalälven in Gästrikland, a historic facility that used to be owned by Gästrikland’s largest ironworks. Gysinge is a historical environment and the location of the first inn with horse changing facilities, opened in 1754. Today, the lodging is run by Karen and Gertjan van Os, who have used their extensive experience in the restaurant and service industry to create an oasis in this historic industrial environment. In the beautiful former workers’ quarters, the hotel rooms have been lovingly renovated with care and tradition in every brush stroke. Each room is unique, but all are authentically and traditionally preserved.

The accommodation itself features a well-renowned restaurant. There, you can enjoy food prepared from scratch, with a focus on locally-produced and organic ingredients

The proximity to one of Sweden’s most beautiful National Parks – Färnebofjärden National Park – gives visitors the opportunity for an active holiday with experiences close to nature. Färnebofjärden is known for its paddling, scenic hiking trails, bike trails and the very interesting nature, which you can learn more about at Naturum, a mere stone’s throw away.

The village of Gysinge has long been recognized as a hub in building care, and in the area around Gysinge Wärdshus is the village center where you can learn more, attend courses, shop for materials, visit interior design store, fire truck museum, flea market, farm, and much more. The renovation of Gysinge was carried out in collaboration with Gysinge Wärdshus. Come and get inspired, Karen and Gertjan with staff will be happy to tell you more.

At Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotell, sustainability is a top priority. They use local suppliers and raw materials whenever possible, and with innovative thinking and sustainable choices in all parts of the business, they work actively to continuously reduce their own and their guests’ carbon footprint.

    Travel options
    The easiest way to get to Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotell is to go by train to Gävle and then take bus 49 (X-trafik). The bus from Gävle takes about 1 hour.

    If you travel by car, e.g. via Uppsala, follow road 55 to Tärnsjö and then continue on road 56 to Gysinge. The drive from Uppsala takes about an hour.

    If you drive via the E4, either from the north or the south, take the E16 at Gävle and continue on road 56 towards Hedesunda. It takes around 40 minutes from Gävle to Gysinge.
