Accommodation details
Helags Mountain Station has rooms of various sizes in several buildings. We have 14 four-bed rooms in the cabins Nordan, Sunnan and Östan. Gamla Östan has a nine-bed room and a five-bed room. There an eight-bed room in the security room.
All rooms except Gamla Östan have electric heating and lighting. The charming Gamla Östan was built in1916, and in here we use firewood for heat and paraffin lamps and candles for light. Gamla Östan, Östan and the eight-bed room are better suited for those choosing the full-board option as there is no self-catering kitchen here. Nordan and Sunnan, on the other hand, have self-catering facilities where you can cook your own food. If you are staying in Gamla Östan, Östan or the safety room, you have access to the kitchens in Nordan and Sunnan. If you want to bring one or more dogs, our four-bed rooms in Sunnan are available to you.
The beds in the four-bed rooms are 110 centimetres wide, equipped with comfortable mattresses, duvets and pillows. You can purchase travel sheets or rent them here if you choose not to bring your own bedclothes, travel sheet or sleeping bag.
If you want to relax, you can go to Pilgrimssalen (the Pilgims’ Room) located in our cosy main cabin. Here you can sit and plan tomorrow’s excursion in front of the crackling fireplace. The frieze along the long sofa in the Pilgrimssalen describes the route many a pilgrim has taken along St. Olav’s Way, a few kilometres south of the station.
The service building was opened in 2019 and houses toilets, showers and a sauna with relaxation area.
Dog friendly
At Helags, dogs are welcome in specific accommodations, so you can stay comfortably together during your mountain visit. Don’t forget to add the “Pet” option if you want to bring your four-legged friend.
Inside the main lodge and other common areas, pets are not allowed out of respect for guests with fur allergies and other guests. Around the buildings, there are dog kennels where your dog can rest comfortably if you don’t want to leave them in the room or tent while you shower, use the sauna, or have dinner.
Tent
Around Helags mountain station, there are many excellent tent spots, including along the trail leading up to the Helags Massif. As a camper, you have the option to pay a service fee, which grants you access to all the facilities at Helags mountain Station, such as the sauna, showers, flush toilets, self-catering kitchen, and waste disposal.
You can find more information about tent and service fees here.
You don’t need to book your tent spot in advance, but if you’d like to enjoy dinner, breakfast, or take a packed lunch for your day trip, you can pre-book these up to 7 days before arrival by emailing our booking team with your name, date, number of people, and any dietary requirements: bokningen@stfturist.se
