STF Kastellet Bed & Breakfast
A historically unique place in Stockholm's archipelago
About the accommodation
Experience Stockholm's archipelago and stay at Vaxholms Kastell in a unique ambiance dating back to the 16th century. The castle is located on an island just a stone's throw from Vaxholm, a perfect place to relax and take in the boats that slowly pass by.Read more
Our Bed & Breakfast is located in the northern part of the castle. Here we have carefully renovated and spacious rooms with high arched ceilings, wide wooden floors, stoves and skylights overlooking the sea. Feel the history, while enjoying the comforts of modern living. The room is available from 14:00 on the day of arrival until 11:00 on the day of departure.
We prepare your breakfast in the beautiful dining room, so that you are ready to discover everything the island and surroundings have to offer. The breakfast room can also be used to sit and socialize at other times, with books, newspapers and board games available. In summer we open the gates to our large outdoor terrace, and weather permitting you can sit outside and enjoy breakfast in a sheltered location, in a double sense.
Today, there are several different activities at Kastellet. In addition to our Bed & Breakfast, we have the archipelago’s largest museum, conference rooms, family activities, ECO-Shipping, and many artists’ exhibits and shops on the island. A bistro and café are open in summer.
My name is Lotta Blomqvist, and I have managed Kastellet Bed & Breakfast since 2008. My whole family is involved in the business in one way or another. Our B&B is in a unique location and is really accommodation beyond the ordinary. As a guest you will enjoy not only the accommodation, but also the historical and cultural experience.
A warm welcome to us at Kastellet Bed & Breakfast!

Boats to Kastellet
A short boat trip of about 2 minutes is required to get between Vaxholm and Kastellet.
By boat
Both Waxholmsbolaget (www.waxholmsbolaget.se) and Strömma (www.stromma.com) have routes from Stockholm to Vaxholm all year round. For timetables, see Waxholmsbolaget's or Strömma's websites.
By car
From Stockholm, it takes about 45 minutes to Vaxholm by car. The last part from Vaxholm to Kastellet is with a small cable ferry.
