View details

For over a century, the mountain station has stood here, 19 kilometers out on the bare mountain plateau in northern Lapland. A welcoming oasis in the middle of a majestic landscape, where generations of hikers have found shelter, rest, and companionship after a long day on the trail. You come here for the adventure and the challenge – but also for the stillness, the silence, and that unique sense of freedom that only the mountains can offer.

The journey to Kebnekaise Mountain Station begins in Nikkaluokta, where the road ends and the wilderness begins. Whether hiking or skiing, it’s a rewarding day trip to get here. If you want to continue to the Kungsleden trail, it’s a full day’s hike westward from the station. Along Kungsleden, you’ll reach Abisko or Saltoluokta in 4–7 days.

After a day in the mountain air, full of reflection and perhaps many vertical meters, you can settle down by the fire and let your mind wander. In the evening, a delicious dinner awaits before you drift off in a cozy bed.

Stay together in charming century-old dormitories, or choose a more comfortable two- or four-bed room. In the main building, you’ll find multi-bed rooms, while the nearby annexes offer rooms for two or four guests. If you’re travelling with a dog, we of course offer dog-friendly rooms. Toilets and showers are available in all buildings except the main one, but not directly in the rooms. If you stay in the main building, showers are available in the service building, where you’ll also find the sauna and relaxation area – both with stunning views. No matter where you stay, you always have access to the sauna and relaxation area overlooking the mountains.

In our restaurant, Elsa’s kitchen, you can enjoy all meals of the day. Each morning, a generous breakfast buffet with freshly baked bread from our own bakery awaits. Enjoy a hearty homemade lunch or prepare your own packed lunch, and don’t miss our popular dinners featuring local ingredients like wild game and fish. A vegetarian option is available daily. Be sure to pre-book your dinner before arrival here: www.swedishtouristassociation.com/activities/ke…

• Nature’s Best

How we fulfil STFs sustainability pledgde
• Not selling bottled water.
• Buying green electricity from renewable sources.
• We make it easy to recycle as this is available in several places at the mountain station with clear information on how to sort waste.
• Our helpful guests who take rubbish down with them after ascending Kebnekaise are offered free organic coffee!
• Energy consumption and CO2 emissions are obvious criteria when purchasing household appliances and vehicles.
• We have organic, KRAV-labelled options in both the restaurant and store and we inform guests about this.
• We provide information and assistance in order to help you make your stay in and around the facility as sustainable as possible.
• We provide advice about trails in the area, mountain safety and how to behave as a guest in the natural environment and reindeer grazing areas, how not to disturb animals and nature.
• We avoid single-use products and only use ecolabelled cleaning products.
• We are actively reducing paper use as we are installing hand dryers and avoid printing unnecessarily.
