STF Navardalens Wilderness Station

More about STF Navardalens Wilderness Station

STF Navardalens Vildmarksstation is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, fishermen and those wishing to enjoy some quality time in nature with friends or family. The cosy accommodation, wood-fired sauna and famous bear-strong coffee are perfect compliments to the pristine beauty of this special location. Take a refreshing swim in the lake or try your luck fishing for brown trout, arctic char and burbot. Explore the beautiful area via wilderness trails leaving directly from Navardalen. Delve deeper into the wild Dalarna region by visiting the numerous nature reserves nearby. Visit Sweden’s highest waterfall and the oldest living tree in the world, Old Tjikko, in Fulufjället National Park, an easy day trip from the Wilderness Station. Experience the country blanketed in snow during winter when you can ski, snowshoe and fish through the ice, while having a warm, dry cabin to return to. At Navardalen, there is no electricity: relax, unplug and re-connect by the healing blaze of an open fire.

Choose between a private room in our small and friendly hostel or stay in our free-standing lake cabin.

The Wilderness Station was founded in 1960 and remains on its original site, 32 kilometres north of Älvdalen. The initiative was taken by Ove Zacheusson, one of Älvdalen’s former tourist managers. Today, the site is managed by STF hosts, through Älvdalen’s Tourist Association.
