About the accommodation

The hostel is located at the southern end of the park area called Ödeshög Klockaregårdsäng. The operation is run on a non-profit basis by Hembygdsföreningen, a local association, which aims to preserve tradition and history for future generations. An oasis for both tourists and residents.

The park has seventeen historic buildings from different eras, from the 17th century to the end of the 19th century. Some of these now offer hostel accommodation. Choose between Granliden, a charming crown tax farm from the 18th century furnished with period furniture, or Slöjdvillan, a 20th century villa with basic rooms. In addition to these buildings, there are two smaller cottages where pets are welcome. All options have comfortable beds, and both Granliden and Slöjdvillan have access to a guest kitchen.

Ödeshög is beautifully situated by Lake Vättern with the plain to the north and the deepest forest to the south and offers a multitude of experiences all around. This part of the Östgötaleden has been designated one of Sweden’s twelve STF Signature Trails, specially selected for its beautiful nature typical of its part of the country. In addition to the Östgötaleden, there are the Vättern-Sommen Trail and the Pilgrim Trail, so there are rich opportunities to experience the area both on foot and by bicycle.

Other attractions here also attract visitors such as Ombergs Ecopark, Ellen Keys Strand, Alvastra monastery ruins, Rökstenen and Naturum Tåkern with Princess Estelle’s fairy tale trail. In addition, there is both Lake Vättern and other lakes for swimming and in the countryside you will find small farm shops and cafes. Lovely excursion for all ages.

Welcome to Ödeshög!
