During Easter 2022 one of our storage buildings caught fire. Until a new storage building is in place we need to use the sauna for storage and, unfortunately, keep it closed for our visitors. Accommodation and shops were not affected by the fire and will remain open as usual.

About the accommodation

STF Sälka lies in the intersection between two valleys, Tjäktjavagge and Stuor Räitavagge, in the Kebnekaise massif. This in an excellent starting point both for strenuous climbs to the summit of Sälka and for easier climbing to the Reaiddanjunnji peak.

Sockertoppen is another obvious area for wild strawberries, which you can reach after a couple hours of hiking. From here, enjoy the view towards the peaks of Nallo, Sälka and Sarek to the south. Another gem is the lake, situated 1,050 m.a.s.l., under Sälka’s majestic peak and shining glacier.

If you want a rest day from hiking, Sälka is the perfect place to stay.

This is how it works in a mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.
