The lighthouse harbor (Fyrhamnen) is the historic pilot and lighthouse station on Storjungfrun, the largest island in Söderhamn’s archipelago and part of a nature reserve. Here, you’ll discover breathtaking landscapes and many well-marked trails for hiking.

Storjungfrun is approximately 3.5 km long from north to south and 1.5 km wide, featuring around 14 km of marked trails waiting to be explored. The island is relatively untouched, with a diverse landscape rich in flora, offering a mix of bare rocks, shingle fields, dry moraine terrain, fertile limestone-influenced soil, and wetland areas. The surrounding islets are vital resting spots for migratory birds and nesting grounds for various bird species.

The island also holds significant cultural history. Highlights include a chapel built in the 17th century, remnants of old harbors, some dating back to the 1500s, and Sweden’s last coal-fired lighthouse.
