About the accommodation

Tjärö – a jewel between ocean and sky. In the middle of the chain of unspoiled islands that is the Blekinge archipelago: this is where Tjärö is located. The whole island is preserved as an 18th- and 19th-century setting – you’re going to feel as though you’ve stepped right into an Astrid Lindgren story. Welcome to Tjärö!

You’ll have the sea all around you and can start the day with a morning swim from the rocks. After that you can have a good breakfast that includes home-made bread and hot savoury dishes. And then it’s up to you to get out and experience the archipelago and the countryside. When you come back, you can have the pleasure of a sauna on our raft and a delicious dinner in our newly refurbished restaurant.

STF Tjärö provides you with somewhere to stay, eat and attend your conference in a unique archipelago environment. We have accommodation in double rooms or dormitories, or you can rent a cottage of your own by the sea. All our rooms are located in charming traditional Swedish red and white wooden cottages. The different buildings can accommodate between one and six people. All the buildings are in an idyllic little village in the middle of the island.

Our newly built restaurant, complete with large outdoor decking, is right by the sea. This is somewhere where you can enjoy good home-made food prepared with local produce. If you want to have a glass of wine, a beer or something stronger, we are fully licensed. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and also snacks. And, of course, you can enjoy one or more crisp, freshly baked waffles with jam and cream.

    Travel options
    By boat
    You can get to Tjärö by boat from Järnavik's dock. The boat M/S Tjärö takes you to the island in 15 minutes. You buy a round-trip boat tickets at the reception or the café when you get to Tjärö or on your way back home. You do not need to show a ticket on the trip to Tjärö, only when you go back.

    By train and bus
    You can take a train to Bräkne-Hoby and then continue by bus to Järnavik (7 kilometers) or fly to Ronneby (20 km from Järnavik).

    By car
    Drive E22 to Bräkne-Hoby, then towards Järnavik-Tjärö. Set your GPS on Järnaviksvägen 80, Bräkne-hoby. Free parking is available in Järnavik.
