Tofvehult is located in the most beautiful part of northeastern Småland, surrounded by forest and lakes. It is a quiet area, in proximity to charming Västervik and the Tjust archipelago. Tofvehult is run by Peter and Lena. In the early 20th century, Lena’s great-grandfather Wilhelm and his wife Margareta lived in the old tannery building, which dates back to 1865. Lena’s grandmother Britta, one of eight children, was born here in one of the upstairs rooms. We moved here from the west coast in 1997, exchanged ocean for lake, the smell of salt for the smell of pine needles and moss, to start our new life. We both had a dream of living in the countryside, to let our three children grow up with the forest and the lakes as their playground, inspired by all of Astrid Lindgren’s wonderful fairy tales.
 
Here you can choose between staying in a spacious apartment on the second floor of the residential building or in one of the cozy little cabins on the hillock just next to it. Self-catering is offered for all options. The first floor of the residential building offers cozy social areas, and a lush garden awaits you outside. The cottages are surrounded by pines and blueberry bushes and overlook lakes Toven and Ålsjön. Our sauna and hot tub, which you can rent during your stay, are meditatively and magically located by a small waterfall, and the lake is perfect for a dip in the morning or evening. We offer rowing boats, canoes and SUPs for rent, and we have a couple of bikes that you can borrow for excursions along the winding dirt roads. The changing of the seasons is magical here in Tofvehult.
 
Do keep in mind is that we are quite some distance from grocery stores and restaurants. You can book both a breakfast basket and a simpler evening meal with us, but be aware that you must pre-book it the day before at the latest. Dogs are welcome against a fee, please notify us when booking. Our house is also perfect for groups looking to stay close to nature, comfortably and in pleasant environment for meetings where you are the only guests.
