About the accommodation

STF Undersvik is located in the middle of the agricultural landscape of Hälsingland, close to both a river, forest, and mountains. The location next to the river Ljusnan, between Järvsö and Orbaden, is incredibly beautiful and you will feel a soothing tranquility wherever you are on the premises.

After careful renovation by Uppsala Diocese, STF will operate the old diocesan estate in Undersvik as a guesthouse and hostel from September 2023. Here, you are surrounded by green areas, hiking trails, and water, with opportunities for activities such as cycling, fishing, swimming, and paddling right around the corner. But we also hope that you will be able to come here to relax and just be for a few days. Enjoy rest, cozy up by the fireplace, delicious meals, and leisurely walks. Come here and do nothing – at your own pace.

It is easy to get here both by public transportation and by car. There is also the possibility to be picked up (up to 8 people) by an electric minibus at the train station in Vallsta/Järvsö or by bus at Highway 83.

The kitchen at Undersviks Matsal follows the seasonal availability of ingredients and serves simple but well-prepared food. Inspiration comes from old craft traditions and genuine sustainability thinking. The philosophy is to use less but better meat and fish, as well as more vegetables.

The accommodation consists of five buildings and offers 133 beds. Everything from double rooms with shower and toilet, family rooms, and multi-bed rooms, as well as the possibility to rent a private house with a sauna. There are several conference rooms that accommodate between 4 and 100 people, as well as common areas, a large veranda, playground, soccer and volleyball fields, barbecue area, and a lovely sandy beach within walking distance.

    Travel options
    Public transport  
    You can travel smoothly and sustainably to STF Undersvik by public transport. There are a number of travel routes to choose from. Samtrafiken’s travel robot is a very useful tool reseplanerare.resrobot.se. Use it to search by your point of departure to the stop called Undersvik Church (Bollnäs kn) or Undersvik Södra (Bollnäs kn).
     
    If you are coming from the south, you may choose to take the train to Arbro station and from there take Länstrafik bus no. 51 to the Undersvik södra stop. From there it is about a 2.5 km walk to the property. You can also take bus no. 55 and get off at Undersvik Kyrka station, located about 100 meters from the property. Alternatively, you can take the train to Järvsö station and bus no. 51 or no. 55 from there in the southern direction.

    Sustainability and reuse are always the buzz words and goals during our renovation. We always strive to make as small an impact as possible on the nature around us, to preserve what is there. Fix it, rather than buying new.   

    We are proud to have made the sustainability pledge, which means that we follow STF’s sustainability policy in terms of social, economic and environmental sustainability.

    • Electricity – the power for our accommodation comes from renewable energy sources.  
    • Food – when you eat with us, you can be sure that our staples are KRAV-labeled or organic ingredients.   
    • We use environmentally friendly cleaning agents as much as possible.  
    • We have water-saving flushing taps, showers and toilets wherever possible.  
    • We reuse our interior as much as possible.  
    • We offer charging posts for electric cars in the farm’s parking lot.
