More about STF Vaisaluokta Mountain cabin
Along the beach, Sirka Sámis have their summer camp at Vaisaluokta Bay and Änonjálmme, where you can often buy fresh-caught char or whitefish. Or if you prefer catching the fish yourself, there are good spots a few kilometres from the cabin. If you arrive when the parish weekend is on, don’t miss the chance to participate in a Sámi service at the Vaisluokta parish tent. There is a gathering outdoors afterwards with coffee – we promise a memorable experience.
This is how it works in a mountain cabin
In a mountain cabin you stay cozy and easy with self catering in multi-bedded rooms. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. All mountain cabins offer accommodation for guests with dogs. You can not pre-book a specific room or bed - the principle is that you are guranteed a place to sleep. You can pre-pay an unspecified place to sleep on STF's website. An unspecified bed means either a regular bed or a comfortable mattress on the floor. Quilts, pillows and blankets are given for both sleeping options. You need to bring your own bed linen or a sleeping bag. Many of our cabins have shops where you can resupply. Some of these stores also sell gas cylinders, T-fuel, mountain maps and mosquito repellent. Several of the cabins also have a wood-fired sauna.

Adjustments due to the coronavirus
In order to allow us to welcome you and other guests at our mountain stations in a safe manner, we have made a number of adjustments to how we operate. These changes will be updated regularly.
Mandatory advance booking of STF mountain cabins will continue to apply in 2021. There will be a limited number of advance bookings per cabin and night and this allows us to ensure that each cabin will not be overcrowded.
Duvets and pillows are provided in mountain cabins. It is obligatory to bring your own sheets and pillowcases in addition to your sleeping bag, travel sheet or duvet cover for the duvets in the cabins. You will need to be able to cover all bedclothes for your own safety.
We have also made several other changes which applies to you as a visitor at STFs mountain cabins during 2021. You will find updated information here: https://www.swedishtouristassociation.com/corona
