Sofielund is in the village of Boda by, a genuine and well-preserved archipelago village in the north of the island of Värmdö. The area has a rich history and dates back to the 17th century. Boda brygga, just next to Sofielund, is a hub for boat traffic in the archipelago and is therefore an excellent staring point from which to discover the surrounding islands. Your hosts who run Sofielund have been working their whole lives in the shipping industry and the boat taxi business behind us and we would be happy to guide you on your onward voyage in the archipelago. We are also able to offer boat taxi trips so that you can explore other nearby islands or eat dinner at one of the many archipelago restaurants and then come back with us to Sofielund for a wood-fired sauna or hot tub and a dip in the sea.
At our place you stay in carefully renovated and beautifully decorated rooms that have a genuine archipelago feeling. Most of the rooms have a view of the sea and the small shared verandas are lovely to sit on and just enjoy archipelago life as it slowly passes by just outside. There are breakfast baskets available to order, but there is also a fully equipped shared kitchen if you would rather make your own breakfast (and other meals) yourself. The grounds also feature a simple outdoor kitchen with a gas barbecue and cooking facilities. The 180-degree view over the sea from here is hard to beat.
In addition to the rooms in the merchant’s villa, there is also an separate archipelago cabin on the hill behind, which can be rented by a single party (2–4 people) at a time. From here you have a view in three directions over the water and the sauna and swimming jetty are nearby. The cottage has its own kitchen and toilet (while the shower can be found in a separate building in the courtyard) and its own veranda with a set of outdoor furniture on which you can sit and enjoy spectacular sunsets over Sandöfjärden.
A warm welcome to Värmdö and our Sofielund, our jewel of the archipelago!

Travel options
By car
By car you can reach Sofielund from Stockholm in under an hour, depending on traffic. The easiest way is to type Boda brygga into the GPS (when you arrive you will find Sofielund to your left). Once here you are welcome to drive in to unload your luggage but we do not have any parking here. You will instead find parking in the harbour, a couple of hundred metres away.
By boat
Boda brygga, which is right next to us is a stop for several routes operated by Waxholmsbolaget. From Stockholm (Strömkajen) it is about a two hour voyage, and from Vaxholm it is approximately an hour. Boda brygga is also a great starting point for your onward voyage into the archipelago to discover islands such as Gällnö, Grinda, Ingmarsö, Svartsö, Möja, Husarö and Finnhamn, to name but a few.
As we also operate a boat taxi and boat charter business, we can help you with boat transport wherever you want to go in the archipelago or for day trips while you are staying with us. You are very welcome to contact us with any queries.
Bus
Bus 438 leaves from Slussen and stops at Boda brygga, just outside our door. The journey is just under an hour and the buses run all year round.
