More about STF Vilhelmina/Kyrkstaden
As well as providing 53 apartments in 21 cottages (146 beds) the buildings have also become rented accommodation, the tourist information centre & travel agent, a local heritage museum, a grocer's, a Sami gallery, a forestry centre and shops.
The apartments are housed in 1-bed to 4-bed cottages, some with beds already made up for you. All apartments have their own kitchen and WC. Many also have their own shower and TV. Otherwise showers and a TV room are located in the service building.
The local heritage museum is located in the old parish hall dating from the 1890s. The museum’s collections reflect the history of the area from prehistoric times to the present day, many focussing on the tools used by the early settlers here. The most impressive sights in the prehistoric gallery include the “Maksjö Find”, a rich grave find from the eighth century and a fourth century ski.
The Sami gallery displays the world’s largest Sami knife. This impressive work of art is 2.5 metres long and weighs 87.5 kg!!
