Anaris - Lunndörren

The Anaris to Lunndörren stretch makes for an excellent walk. It is particularly interesting to walk between the high rock faces in the long and narrow Hällådalen. There are other interesting mountain features as well, such as the Issjödalen valley and the Lunndörr pass.

Your walk from STF Anaris Mountain Cabin runs in a south-westerly direction over easy and slightly uphill terrain. Soon you will reach the Hällådalen, which is several kilometres long and is surrounded by stunning natural scenery. The trail here runs between mountain rock faces that are up to 1,000 metres high.

Far into the valley there is a steep ascent to the highest point of the stretch, which is at 1,200 metres above sea level. From here you can expect a magnificent view over Vålådalen Nature Reserve and the crater-filled plateau landscape of the Issjödalen valley.

After a steep descent, you will reach the easy terrain of the Gröndalen, and after that Issjödalen’s gravel plateau. If you are interested in history, you should take the opportunity to explore the cone-shaped Pyramiderna gravel heaps and other interesting traces of inland ice in this area.

When you have left Issjödalen, the route proceeds through a reindeer fence and follows the northern slopes of Stor-Gröngumpen. Soon the trail turns down through birch forest and goes diagonally across to STF Lunndörren. The mountain cabin is located right down by the Lunndörrstjärnen, where forest and bare mountain landscape meet.
