Accessibility statement
At STF, we want as many people as possible to be able to use our website—regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we strive to ensure it is easy to perceive, navigate, and understand, regardless of functional variations or the assistive technologies used.
The Swedish Tourist Association is responsible for this website.
This statement describes how svenskaturistforeningen.se complies with the Act (2023:254) on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services, any known accessibility issues, and how you can report problems to us.
How accessible is the website?
Our website partially complies with the Act (2023:254) on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services. We are aware that some parts are not fully accessible, and we are working to improve them. Read more in the section “Content that is not accessible” below.
What to do if you cannot access parts of the website
If you need content from STF that is not accessible to you, but which is exempt from the law (see below), please contact us and we will do our best to help.

You can report to the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (in Swedish and opens in new tab) if you believe our assessment of undue burden should be reviewed, if you find flaws in our accessibility statement, or if you feel we have not handled your request for accessible content correctly.

Technical information about the website’s accessibility
This website partially complies with the Accessibility Act due to the shortcomings described below.
Content that is not accessible
The following content is not fully accessible:
- Not all PDF documents are fully accessible. Many PDF files on svenskaturistforeningen.se are based on source files not created by Svenska Turistföreningen, which can make it difficult to produce a fully accessible PDF afterwards.
Known issues:- Some PDFs are not properly tagged for screen readers.
- Images and diagrams lack alternative text.
- Tables are missing headers.
- Some videos lack subtitles and audio description, for example instruction, information or inspiration videos published before 1 June 2024. For videos produced after 28 June 2025, subtitles and audio descriptions will be included. (WCAG 1.2.1, 1.2.2)
- Some videos (e.g., instructional, informational, or inspirational) published before June 1, 2024, lack subtitles and audio descriptions. For videos produced after June 28, 2025, both will be included.
Content excluded by law
Some content is not fully accessible but is exempt from the Act (2023:254) on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services, according to its transitional provisions §2.
This includes archived content that has not been updated or edited after the law came into effect – such as videos, PDFs, and other documents on the website.
Non-compliance with legal requirements
- On some pages, headings are not properly structured – for example, H3 has been used where H2 should have been. We are currently correcting this to ensure proper heading hierarchy. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Some images lack alt text. We are working to ensure all images have alt text. The most visited pages already have them. Some images come from integrated systems where it is technically difficult to add alt text. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- Our integrated systems Book Visit and CBIS do not allow us to input alt text. These are third-party systems beyond our control. We are working to find an alternative solution. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- The contact form for our member service and booking has markup issues, which cause problems for screen readers. For example, some form fields are not properly linked to their labels. Other accessibility issues also exist. The form is a third-party solution provided by Freshdesk. We are working to find an alternative. (WCAG 3.3.2)
Our goal is to resolve all known accessibility issues as soon as the system providers update their platforms. In the meantime, we are working on alternative solutions.
Disproportionate burden
The Swedish Tourist Association invokes exemption for disproportionate burden under §7 of the Act (2023:254) on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services for the following:
- Currently, the website does not support dark mode. Implementing such a function would require extensive technical development and resources that are not currently available. Therefore, it is considered a disproportionate burden. (EN 11.7)
We plan to evaluate the possibility of offering dark mode during 2026.
How we tested the website
An independent audit of our websites was conducted by Axess Lab AB, an external accessibility expert. The most recent assessment by Axess Lab was carried out on 20 January 2025.
Audit method
The audit included inspection without assistive tools, with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, text zoom, spacing tests, HTML/DOM inspection, automated tests, and use of browser extensions.
We also carried out internal tests during the 2025 accessibility work.
Planned actions
We plan to address our deficiencies during 2025 and 2026.
Improvements implemented since January 1, 2025
- The colors in the visual identity have been updated to achieve higher contrast.
- The tab functionality has been improved, along with a visible tab indicator, to facilitate use with screen readers.
- The majority of images have been given alt text.
- Texts on buttons and links have been clarified.
- Information indicating that a link opens in a new window has been added where relevant.
- Icons and logos have been given alt text.
- The code has been updated so that screen readers read content in the correct order.
- In places where markings were previously color-coded only—such as in the visitor calendar and on maps—we have replaced them with markers that use both unique icons and color, to make the information clearer for users with color vision deficiency.
- Inline links have been clarified with underlined text.
- Images containing embedded text have been removed or provided with descriptive alt text.
- Videos on the website now include a play/pause button.
- Many pages have been given a clearer heading hierarchy.
- In many cases, we have moved content from PDFs directly onto web pages, and we have also removed some PDFs that were not accessible.
