STF Nallo Mountain cabin
From Nallo mountain cabin, you can embark on both easy day hikes and more advanced summit tours.
Excursions
- One highlight is the stunning, high-altitude glacier lakes, including Reaiddajávri, Sweden’s second-highest lake at 1,506 meters above sea level. From here, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Unna Räitavagge, Stuor Räitavagge, and the Påssus massif.
- If the weather is good, take the opportunity to climb Nallotoppen—on a clear day, you can see all the way to both peaks of Kebnekaise.
- Another great day trip is the Unna Räita shelter, dramatically perched at the edge of a cliff with glacier lakes on two levels.
- The cabin is set in a dramatic alpine landscape, surrounded by steep mountain walls—Nállu’s south face and Räitatjåkka’s north face are the closest. To the west, the views include Čeakčabákti and Čeakčačohkka. Don´t miss the beautiful waterfall nearby.
- The ascent to Nallo is not to hard, even for those new to peak climbing, and it is also possible to ski around the Nallo massif.
- The area is a paradise for skiers, with excellent opportunities for alpine ski touring and downhill skiing.
- Unna Räita shelter is a great destination in both summer and winter.
And by the way—as a guest, you might think the two square stone fortresses near the cabin are ancient Sámi structures. In reality, they were built by a group of energetic English scouts!
Good to know about the cabin
- The area immediately surrounding the mountain cabin offers only a few tent sites, but independent campers will find many options about 300 meters from the Sälka Trail.
- A few hundred meters down the valley toward Vistas, where the stream from Reaiddajávri meets the stream passing by the cabin, there is a deeper section where it is usually possible to take a dip, even when water levels are low.
- Nallo Cabin is located within the Kebnekaise regulation area, so a permit is required for snowmobile use.
