Experience the Stockholm archipelago during a four-day island hopping between Svartsö, Finnhamn and Möja. Enjoy charming archipelago environments and the tranquility by the sea as well as fantastic hiking on the Stockholm Archipelago Trail – on each island awaits a stage of this beautiful archipelago trail.
The Stockholm Archipelago Trail “SAT” is a unique trail of 27 kilometers that stretches over 20 islands in the Stockholm archipelago. Here you get the opportunity to walk three of the stages during a wonderful island hopping in 4 days.
Day 1:
Take the boat to Svartsö from Stockholm City, Åsättra brygga or Boda all year round. Norra Svartsö jetty is the closest to Svartsö hostel. Here the SAT stage is 17.9km and easy to hike. It is also possible to rent a bike and discover the island.
Day 2:
Take the boat to Finnhamn where the SAT stage is 10 kilometers and consists of three loops close to the sea where the hostel is a natural hub and it is easy to adjust the length of the day’s stage. At Finnhamn, the trail starts directly from the jetty where you enter with the Waxholm boat, where you are also greeted by the tavern and shop.
Day 3:
Boat to Långvik’s jetty on Möja if you want to start the hike right away, or Berg’s jetty where you stay at the cozy Möja hostel. The SAT stage on Möja is 10km of hiking on a country road in an archipelago environment. You can also extend the hike with a 4 km local nature trail right across the island’s nature reserve.
Day 4:
Maybe you have time for another walk, a lovely swim or a lunch at the restaurant in Långvik before taking an optional boat back to the mainland from one of Möja’s 6 piers. On all islands there are plenty of opportunities to walk shorter variations of the trail.
The price includes
- 1 night in a hostel room at Svartsö hotel & hostel, 1 night in a selected room type at Finnhamn hostel, 1 night in a hostel room at Möja hostel.
- Bed linen and towels are provided in all accommodations.
- Breakfast is included at Finnhamn’s hostel. At Svartsö it is possible to order a breakfast basket. At Möja you can find breakfast on your own in the self-catering kitchen, a shop is nearby.

On Svartsö it is possible to order a breakfast basket. The small shop on Svartsö is located in Alsvik, 4 km from the property. On Svartsö there are 2 restaurants, Svartsö Krog and Bistro Sågen. Breakfast is included at Finnhamn. At Finnhamn there is a shop and café (June-August) and a restaurant (May-September). The restaurant is open Friday evening and Saturday. On Möja there is restaurant Jeppes in Långvik and grocery store in Långvik and Berg. Guestkitchens are available in all accommodations.

The trail is well marked with blue and yellow ribbons and signs but can be good to supplement with a downloaded gpx file as an extra security. Please note that boat transport is not included in the package. There are relatively frequent trips between the islands, but you need to ensure that there are suitable departures for your chosen dates. Timetables can be found on waxholmsbolaget.se or SL’s travel planner Travelplanning. You go to Svartsö from Stockholm City Strömkajen, Åsättra or Boda brygga all year round. Norra Svartsö jetty is the closest to Svartsö Skärgårdshotell & vandrarhem. At Finnhamn, the trail starts directly from the jetty where you enter with the Waxholm boat. On Möja there are five steamboat piers that are reached via the trail, Berg jetty is closest to the accommodation. After August 18, you usually arrive at Långvik’s jetty on Möja, 5.5km from Berg. Please note that after 18 August, boat traffic is more reduced on the Finnhamn-Möja route and on some days a boat needs to be ordered or a taxi boat can be used, see pdf file.
