STF Finnhamns Hostel

Finnhamn has it all: a restaurant with a rooftop bar offering a stunning view, a kiosk by the sandy beach of Paradisviken, a country store, and a variety of activities. There are outdoor gyms, soccer fields, and a beach volleyball court. You can also run around the island along the water, over smooth rocks and through beautiful heather fields.

If you bring your dog, they can run free in the dog park. Finnhamn has a leash law year-round, and a fenced area where dogs can run freely is a great benefit. Dogs are more than welcome at the hostel, and they might even get a little meatball at the restaurant when the chef isn’t looking.

The hostel is open year-round but only accommodates larger groups during the colder seasons. From June to August, everything is open on Finnhamn and Waxholmsbolaget operates several trips to the dock every day. Other times, the opening hours are limited.

The hostel and its associated cottages have a total of 87 beds spread across 28 rooms. In addition to the bedrooms, the main building has newly renovated showers and toilets, and the beautiful dining rooms where breakfast is served. Breakfast for guests staying in the hostel and the associated cabins is included in the price during the period from Midsummer to mid-August. Outside of this period, breakfast is not included. Breakfast is served between 08:00 and 09:30 in the dining rooms. you will also find the fully equipped guest kitchen. The Finnhamn nature reserve consists of three interconnected islands: Lilla and Stora Jolpan and Idholmen. Lilla Jolpan features a forest reminiscent of primeval times, with trees over 100 years old. Unique to the island is the abundance of oaks and the hidden meadow with the beautiful and rare but poisonous flower Tbast. Being in the nature reserve comes with responsibilities. You are not allowed to pick flowers or bike in nature, but you are welcome on the winding gravel road that runs across the entire island. In return, as a visitor, you can enjoy a nature that is as untouched, wild, and beautiful as possible. The island also has a rich wildlife, from deer, badger, and fox to the tiny shrew. Birds thrive here as well. There are five different species of woodpecker, and if you’re lucky, you might see a sea eagle swooping down to fish.
