STF Kiruna Hotel & Hostel is a welcoming accommodation with an attractive location – the perfect starting point for exploring the surrounding mountain world. The property is run by Malmfälten Folk High School and is located just outside Kiruna’s newly built city center. Here, you’ll stay close to nature with stunning views of the Kebnekaise mountain range.

Right next to the hotel you’ll find scenic trails ideal for cross-country skiing, walking, or jogging. Just a few minutes away lies Kiruna’s local mountain, Luossavaara, where you can go downhill skiing in winter and mountain biking in summer. During the summer months, the new chairlift takes you to the top to enjoy the magic of the midnight sun. For cross-country skiers, a waxing hut with three stations is available free of charge for hotel guests.

Kiruna is a natural hub for travel deeper into the mountains. From here, buses depart to Nikkaluokta and the Kebnekaise massif, as well as to Abisko, Björkliden, and all the way to Riksgränsen. With STF Kiruna as your base, you’ll be close to some of Sweden’s northernmost ski areas.

At the same time, you can explore Kiruna’s rich selection of exhibitions, museums, and restaurants. Join a guided tour of the iron ore mine – the city’s beating heart – or learn more about the spectacular urban relocation project that has attracted international attention.

In front of the hotel, there’s also a large Lavvu (Sámi-style tipi tent) with space for 25 people, which guests can rent for gatherings or events.

    Travel information
    If you are coming into Kiruna from the south, it is easiest if you turn off at the first roundabout to the right and then immediately to the left so that you arrive at Hjalmarlundbohmsvägen. You drive north, on the right you pass the cemetery and to the left of the roundabout you have Statoil. You continue along the same street straight ahead and drive so that you also pass the town hall on the left.
     
    After you pass OKQ8 on the left at a four-way intersection, it's not far to us. You turn off to the right on the third street after the intersection at OKQ8, then you end up on Matojärvigatan and drive up to the right following that street until you see Högalidskolan, just below this school is Campingvägen on the left, about 300 meters further on you have Malmfältens Folkhögskola.
