In and around Munkviken, there are plenty of opportunities for both activities and relaxation all year round. Hike along the sea, swim from the sandy beach, paddle or cycle during summer, or enjoy skiing by the sea and perhaps the northern lights in winter.

Play and teamwork

For groups and families, there are several playful activities in the area. Try the teamwork course in the forest with different challenges requiring creativity and cooperation, or compete in “Munkviken’s champions” on the beach with events filled with laughter and team spirit. Kubb, table tennis, balls and play equipment are also available to borrow freely during your stay.

Nature and outdoor life

Munkviken is surrounded by coastal nature with forests, trails and sea views. There are excellent opportunities for walks, hiking and cycling along marked trails and old coastal roads. A popular excursion is Vardberget, reached by a trail of approximately 1 km starting from Munkviken. From the top, sweeping views over the sea await. During late summer and autumn, the forests around the area are rich in berries and mushrooms.

Swimming, paddling and fishing

The shallow sandy beach is ideal for both families with children and eager swimmers. There are also barbecue areas and spaces for beach activities. If you want to get out on the water, you can paddle a kayak or canoe in Avafjärden. Sea kayakers will find excellent routes among islands and bays, while the calm fjord is also suitable for beginners. Avafjärden is also popular for recreational fishing for species such as pike and perch.

Rest and tranquillity

Munkviken offers plenty of space for recovery and peaceful moments close to nature. Sit down by the sea, walk along the shoreline or follow the quiet forest paths. Here you will also find Munkviken Chapel – a peaceful place for reflection and rest.

Winter in Munkviken

Munkviken is just as beautiful during winter. When snow covers the landscape and sea ice stretches across the bay, peaceful winter days await with skiing, sauna visits and winter swimming. On clear evenings, you may have the chance to experience the northern lights above the coastal landscape.
