Närsholmen is a gorgeous peninsula located on southeastern Gotland. Those staying with us can look forward to culinary experiences, bird watching, golf rounds at the nearby 18 hole golf course, or simple coastal relaxation. There is much to explore for young and old alike. The surrounding landscape is savanna-like and kept open by grazing animals.
Exploring the seaside
It is always easy to go swimming in Närsholmen. There are several beautiful sandy beaches nearby. You can take the whole family with you, walk along the coast, have a picnic and spend quality time together. Have a morning bath below the lighthouse, which is designed by architect Jon Höjer. This is a heritage site with many listed buildings. You can spend hours wandering in the water’s edge or along beaches with “rauks”, column-like limestone formations which are common on Gotland.
Culinary experiences
This is the perfect destination for those who want to eat well during their holiday. There are many nice restaurants in När, Burs and Ljugarn. In addition to that, you can visit the nearby stone oven bakery, traditional smokehouse, farm shops and local grocery store.
Enjoy the wildlife
This is one of Sweden’s best spots for bird watching, so don’t forget your binoculars. Some parts of the island are bird sanctuaries and cannot be visited between 15 March and 15 July. Any other time of year, you are welcome to explore the wild just as you please. The nearby area is home to rare animals and plants that you may be lucky enough to spot during your stay.
