The accommodation’s home page: STF Östersund/Ledkrysset Hostel

Östersund is a town with experiences all year round. Here, mountain-close nature meets fascinating history and a rich outdoor life – whether you visit in winter or summer.

In winter, the ice of Storsjön turns into a natural meeting place. Here you’ll find miles of ski tracks and ploughed skating lanes. In Badhusparken you can settle into a deck chair, enjoy kolbullar and take part in activities for both children and adults.

Within walking distance from the hostel you’ll also find the Östersund ski stadium. Here you can try cross-country tracks of international standard and visit Sweden’s national arena for biathlon. If you prefer alpine skiing, Frösön offers slopes suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers.

In summer, Jamtli Historieland comes to life as the historical environments at Jämtlands länsmuseum are filled with actors dressed in period clothing. At the same time, the steamboat Thomée leaves the quay for tours out on Storsjön – perhaps with one eye open for the legendary Storsjöodjuret.

On warm days you can swim in the bathing bays of Storsjön or in the slightly warmer waters of Lillsjön and Önsjön. All year round, Storsjöbadet also attracts visitors with its adventure pool, children’s area and relaxation section.

If you want to get close to nature, you can visit Moose Garden and meet the king of the forest up close. Don’t miss a visit to the beautiful Frösö kyrka, where the composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger is buried.
