Hälsingegårdar (Decorated farmhouses)

The Hälsingegårdar farmhouses are a UNESCO World Heritage site and an absolute must-visit. Seven farms have been granted world heritage status, but in reality, there are several hundred, many of which are open to visitors.

Stenegård

Stenegård is a grand estate in Järvsö with around fifteen well-preserved buildings. It hosts various cultural activities, including Hälsingland’s wooden theatre, folk music, handicrafts, and local culinary traditions. Here, you’ll also find a visitor center for the UNESCO-listed Hälsingegårdar and the Lill-Babs Museum.

Järvsö

Järvsö offers plenty of exciting activities. In winter, alpine skiing in Järvsöbacken is a popular choice, featuring a well-known snow park and excellent child-friendly slopes with fun courses designed for young skiers.

During summer, the slopes transform into Järvsö Bike Park, with well-developed trails for MTB downhill. You can rent bikes, equipment, and guides.

Järvzoo specializes in Swedish wildlife, including moose, musk oxen, reindeer, lynx, wolves, and foxes, as well as a variety of birds.

For hiking enthusiasts, a trip to Järvsö Klack is the perfect day adventure. Your reward at the top? A breathtaking view of Hälsingland’s rolling blue mountains.

Orbaden

In Vallsta, you’ll find the famous Orbaden beach, often called the “Riviera of Hälsingland.” This kilometer-long sandy beach along the Ljusnan River is perfect for a summer day. If you’re looking for more action, head to Orbaden Zip & Climb, where thrill-seekers can try ziplining, high ropes courses, and climbing walls.

Växbo Lin

Växbo Lin is a unique linen weaving mill in the heart of Hälsingland. Linen production in this region has a centuries-old heritage, and Växbo Lin keeps these traditions alive. Their entire production takes place in Växbo, and visitors are welcome to tour the factory and see the weaving process up close. There’s also an outlet store with both first- and second-quality goods.

Trolldalen

Located in Växbo, Trolldalen is a historic site featuring some of Sweden’s best-preserved flax processing works from the 1800s. Here, you’ll find a unique collection of buildings from the time when flax production was vital to Hälsingland’s prosperity. You can also see traditional tools and materials used in flax processing, such as flax breaks and scutching boards.

The peaceful valley of Trolldalen is an ideal excursion for families. It offers a small lake with piers, plenty of picnic tables, and scenic spots perfect for a relaxing day outdoors.
