Stay simple and self-sufficient in the heart of Färnebofjärden National Park. This off-grid cabin offers a true back-to-nature experience, with wood-fired cooking, water fetched from the river, and complete tranquility far from electricity and modern comforts. Perfect for those seeking solitude, wilderness, and an authentic stay close to nature.

Keys

Keys are stored in a key box at Stadarna (near the boat landing). You will receive the code via SMS before arrival. Spare keys are available at Hovnäs ferry.

Self-catering

The cabin is equipped for self-catering with pots, pans, and tableware for 8 people. You need to bring all consumables, such as kitchen and toilet paper, dish soap, cleaning supplies, dish brush, dishcloth, towels, and trash bags. A cold cellar is available and cooking is done on a wood stove. A grill is available in the outbuilding. Bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid. There is no drinking water in the cabin. Bring your own. Water for dishwashing and bathing can be taken from the river.

Other important information

There is an outhouse. Bring your own toilet paper.
There is no electricity. Heating is provided by fire places and a wood-burning stove, and firewood is available.

Parking is available at the turning area at the end of the road, near Stadarna.
Pets are welcome but not allowed in the beds.
There can be a lot of mosquitoes in the area. Bring insect repellent and mosquito coils or similar.

Drinking water (Water for dishwashing and bathing can be taken from the river.)
Bedding: Bring your own sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases. Sleeping bags may be used with a bottom sheet. Blankets and pillows are provided.

During your stay

You are in a national park and must follow its regulations. You’ll find these in the cabin, along with maps and other information.
Cows graze near Stadarna. Do not feed them, but feel free to talk to them.
Please notify us if something breaks so we can replace it as soon as possible.

Shops & postal services

The nearest store is Dalälvens Bensin & Handel in By, 20 km from Stadarna, offering a wide range of groceries. Larger stores are located in Horndal (26 km) and Österfärnebo (32 km). These stores also provide pharmacy, postal, and liquor store services.

Upon departure

Guests are responsible for leaving the cabin clean. Cleaning instructions and supplies are provided. A fee of 2,000 SEK applies if cleaning is not properly done.
Ensure all fires are extinguished.
Clean the cabin according to the instructions.
Take your trash and empty bottles with you. There is a trash bin for combustible waste at Balforsen, about 1 km from Stadarna. A recycling station is available at the gas station in By. Thank you for considering the environment!
