Sustainability

Stationshuset i Ed operates within nature tourism with a focus on activities such as hiking and cycling, experiences that make it possible to explore the landscape with minimal impact on the environment.

When purchasing food, fresh products produced in Sweden are prioritized as far as possible and most purchases are made in the local grocery stores in Ed. Almost all furniture and interior details in the house have been bought second-hand and the cleaning products are environmentally certified. Bed linen and towels are washed at a local Nordic Swan-labelled laundry and heating is provided through district heating. 

Waste is sorted and guests are encouraged to do the same through recycling bins in shared spaces and clear instructions in the rooms. Summer staff are recruited locally, contributing both to social sustainability and to good service with local knowledge. 

Each year donations are made to organizations working to support women in vulnerable situations, including Tjejjouren Väst, Kvinnojouren Frida, Bröstcancerföreningen Dalsland, Musikhjälpen’s work for safe pregnancies and the Aurorafonden.

Stationshuset is located by Ed train station and the location makes it easy to travel here by train. For guests travelling with electric cars there is a charging station.
