STF Tärnasjö Mountain cabin

Stay in a lavish mountain birch forest at Vindelfjällen

Travel information

About the accommodation

The mountain cabin lies in a birch forest by Tärnasjö Lake, in the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve. The region has one of Sweden’s highest concentrations of reindeer, and is characterised by dense, luxuriant birch forest alternating with open marshland.

Almost 20 kilometres long, Lake Tärna stretches in a north-south direction. The lake is a real fishing paradise, not the least during wintertime. The sauna is down by the lake, right next to the cabin. Running out of a hot sauna and jumping into cold mountain water is a hard-to-beat ending to a day full of fishing and hiking.

This mountain cabin accepts payment by card but also bring some cash with you on your hike. Telecommunications do not always work in the mountains.

This is how it works in a mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.
