The quiet valley along the shores of Lake Armasjärvi, inspires calm and peaceful contemplation. Going fishing while enjoying the quiet is just about as northern Sweden as it gets. If you want to discover the surrounding nature, wonderful hiking trails are just around the corner. You can hike through the forest for a while to arrive at Luppioberget – probably the most famous mountain in Tornedalen. In the winter, you can go cross-country skiing on the lake, take a snowshoe walk in the fantastic forest, go ice fishing or perhaps even go dog sledding. Tornedalen’s culture is unique. Its blend of Finnish and Swedish influences has created a distinct Tornedal culture, and the minority language Meänkieli is spoken in the villages around Armasjärvi. A great cultural treasure with a strong craft tradition and creative power is very present throughout Tornedalen. Not far from Willa Armas is Övertorneå, where you can visit the local history museum Aunesgården and NKFC – the Arctic Culture and Research Centre.
