Tent camping and service fees

Camping in the mountains is free. If you want to use facilities such as guest kitchens, drying rooms, showers, saunas or other shared spaces at STF Mountain cabins and Mountain stations, you need to pay a service fee. Here we explain what applies.

Why do you pay a service fee?

Tent pitches are available both close to and further away from STF’s accommodations. If you use the facilities at a Mountain cabin or Mountain station, you pay a service fee, whether you are camping nearby or visiting during the day.

The fee applies for access to guest kitchens, showers, drying rooms, saunas and other shared spaces. Outdoor toilets are free to use. You can also leave sorted and non-perishable waste, but it is important to minimise the amount of waste in the mountains. Read more about how to sort waste in a Mountain cabin.

The service fee is included in the price if you have booked accommodation in a Mountain cabin or Mountain station.

If you do not plan to use the facilities, please show consideration by camping a bit further away from cabins and stations so that space is available for those who need the services.
