Use this checklist to find out whether an accessible accommodation meets your accessibility needs.
Parking and entrance
If on-site parking is available, at least one parking space should be designated as an accessible parking space with a minimum width of 3.6 metres.
Accessible parking spaces should be clearly marked with a wheelchair symbol.
Ramps should be provided where there are changes in level, with a maximum gradient of 1:12, at the main entrance and between the parking area and the entrance.
The clear opening width of the main entrance door should be at least 800 mm.
The entrance door should have a low threshold or no threshold to allow easy wheelchair access.
If the accessible entrance is not located next to the main entrance, clear directional signage should be provided.
Tips
Additional sign at the accessible parking space stating: “For assistance, please contact the reception on +46 XXX XXX XX XX.”
Reception
At least one walking stick holder at the reception desk.
Seating and tables available near reception.
No background music in the reception area.
Furniture arranged to allow easy access and movement.
Vibrating alarm clocks/fire alarm alert devices available to borrow. Information should be clearly displayed at reception or provided verbally at check-in if the guest has a visual impairment.
Tips
An entrance mat in a colour that contrasts with the floor, or tactile guiding strips leading to the reception desk.

A lowered section of the reception desk suitable for wheelchair users.
Charging facilities for electric wheelchairs.
Any guest computer should be accessible for wheelchair users.
Public areas
Some coat hangers/hooks should be reachable from a wheelchair (maximum height 120 cm).
Corridors should be at least 130 cm wide.
Other indoor doorways and passageways should be at least 80 cm wide.

Tips
The first and last step of staircases should be clearly marked in a contrasting colour.
Handrails on both sides of staircases wider than 105 cm.
Stone or concrete stairs should have anti-slip stair nosings.
Breakfast room / guest kitchen
Furniture arranged to allow easy access and movement.
Glasses, tableware and cutlery placed within reach of wheelchair users.
Gluten-free and lactose-free breakfast options available.
Staff available to read menus aloud if needed.

Accessible toilet
Clear signage indicating the location of the accessible toilet.
Door opening at least 80 cm wide.
Pull handle on the inside of the door below the door handle.

Fold-down support rails.
Waste bin accessible from a wheelchair.

Minimum height: 78 cm.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs stay free of charge.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted in all public areas.
Conference facilities (where applicable)
Door openings at least 80 cm wide.
Meeting rooms without carpets, or with carpets that do not impede wheelchair access.
Telephones accessible from a wheelchair.
Coat hangers/hooks reachable from a wheelchair (maximum height 120 cm).

Avoid using strongly scented soaps and cleaning products throughout the property.
