Experience Stockholm’s northern archipelago during a four-day island hopping between the islands of Finnhamn, Lidö and Arholma. Enjoy genuine environments and beautiful nature along the sea. Each island offers nice hiking on the archipelago trail Stockholm Archipelago Trail.
The Stockholm Archipelago Trail “SAT” is a unique trail of 27 kilometers that stretches over 20 islands in the Stockholm archipelago. With this package, you get the opportunity to walk three of the stages during a wonderful island hopping in four days.
Day 1:
You go to Finnhamn from Strömkajen in Stockholm City via Vaxholm or from Boda brygga on Värmdö. At Finnhamn, a 10-kilometre beautiful SAT stage awaits you, consisting of three loops close to the sea, where the hostel with its adjacent tavern and shop is a natural hub and it is easy to adapt the length of the hike.
Day 2:
Spend a day at Finnhamn and enjoy hiking along the trail, swimming or good food at the archipelago restaurant. In the late afternoon, the North/South Line’s boat departs for Lidö (a beautiful journey of about two hours). You arrive in Lidö just in time for dinner in the charming inn (where you also check in), or why not a freshly baked pizza on the front pocket “Oasen” overlooking the sea.
Day 3:
Discover Lidö’s SAT stage, which is 11.9km long and consists of two loops close to the sea. Open meadows, forests and paths close to the sea await you here. End your stay at Lidö with an early dinner before the North/South Line’s boat departs for Arholma or you wait with dinner until you arrive at Arholma Nord in the evening.
Day 4:
Wake up and enjoy a breakfast with a sea view at Arholma Nord, before you take on today’s hike on the archipelago gem of Arholma, a hiking pleasure of just over 12km. Discover the beautifully preserved island along winding gravel roads, through pastures and forests as well as seaside cliffs with stunning views of the Åland Sea. After your hike, you will return to the mainland by boat.

- 1 night in the selected room type at Finnhamn Hostel, 1 night in the selected room type at Lidö Inn, 1 night in the selected room type at Arholma Nord.
- Breakfast is included in the price at all accommodations, as well as bed linen and towels.

Breakfast is included at all accommodations. On Finnhamn, there is a tavern, shop, and cafe; for other meals (self-catering kitchens are also available in the main building). On Lidö, there is the Inn’s restaurant as well as the simpler spot u0022Oasenu0022 (access to self-catering kitchens is only available if you book a room in u0022Västergårdenu0022 or a private cottage, not in the other room categories). On Arholma Nord, there is a restaurant, and there are more options on the island as well as a country store in the harbor. For those who prefer to cook for themselves, there is access to a fully equipped self-catering kitchen in the Tjärven building.

We recommend that before your hike, you check where you can refill with water and energy. The trail is well marked with blue and yellow bands and signs but it can be a good idea to supplement with a downloaded GPX file as an extra safety measure, available for download on the SAT website.

Please note that boat transport is not included in the package. You need to ensure yourself that there are suitable departures for your chosen dates. You can find the timetable on Waxholmsbolaget or SL’s travel planner. You travel to Finnhamn from Stockholm City Strömkajen, via Vaxholm, or from Åsättra or Boda jetty. From Finnhamn to Lidö and from Lidö to Arholma, you travel with the North/South line, which departs late afternoon or early evening. Returning from Arholma, you either take a short boat ride to Simpnäs and continue by bus to Stockholm via Norrtälje, or take the u0022Northern boat lineu0022 to Norrtälje, from where a direct bus goes to Stockholm. The most extensive archipelago experience is gained by taking the boat Sjögull or Sjöbris all the way back to Strömkajen outside the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, a beautiful journey of about 4.5 hours.
