Hiking

Alunbruket is a paradise for hikers, whether you are looking for short walks or longer adventures. It is a starting point for some of Skåne’s most spectacular nature experiences. Skåneleden and Signaturled Österlen run straight through the area and offer both shorter walks and longer tours through varied landscapes.

Backaleden also starts in Alunbruket, making it easy to create different circular hikes. The routes pass through the rolling hills of Brösarps backar, lush deciduous forests and along the winding Verkeån, where you can stop for a break at Hallamölla – Skåne’s highest and most impressive waterfall.

Cycling

Österlen is known for its winding country roads and magnificent landscapes, perfect for cycling tours. From Alunbruket you can set out by bike and experience everything from open fields to deep forests and picturesque villages. Stop at nearby farm shops, art galleries and cafés or follow the cycling route Sydostleden, which passes Alunbruket, and discover Stenshuvud National Park. For the adventurous, there are mountain bike trails in the hilly areas around Brösarps backar.

Culture

Alunbruket lies in the heart of Österlen, a region known for its rich cultural life and vibrant history. Just a short distance away you will find Christinehof slott, where you can explore the area’s industrial heritage as well as exhibitions and events throughout the year. The surrounding villages are filled with art galleries, studios and small shops where local artists and craftspeople display their work. During the year various art exhibitions, theatre performances and festivals are often arranged.

In addition to Kaffestugan Alunbruket, there are many restaurants, cafés and farm shops nearby offering everything from traditional Skåne home cooking to innovative food experiences with locally sourced ingredients in focus.

Family activities

For families there is a wide range of fun activities: you can cycle a railbike through beautiful nature to Gyllebosjön, ride the steam train on the heritage railway between Brösarp and St Olof, or visit Eriksgården with its berry buffet and play area with hay jumping and a giant jumping pillow. For even more adventure there is Skåne’s largest amusement park, Tosselilla sommarland, or Ystad djurpark, a family-friendly zoo where you can get close to the animals.
