The accommodation’s home page: STF Grinda Hotel & Sea Lodge

Grinda offers a wide range of activities both on land and on the water. As the entire island is a nature reserve, you are free to explore its beautiful landscapes, from forests and meadows to rocky shores and tranquil bays.

At 38 metres above sea level, Klubbudden is the island’s highest point and one of its best viewpoints, offering spectacular panoramas across the central Stockholm archipelago. Grinda is also well known for its excellent swimming spots, with shallow sandy beaches, smooth cliffs, and secluded coves waiting to be discovered.

At the harbour, you can hire stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) and kayaks. The surrounding waters offer several beautiful paddling routes, whether you’re looking for a short excursion or a full-day adventure. Guided paddling tours are also available if you prefer to explore with an experienced guide. A selection of outdoor games can also be borrowed, including boules, footballs, and the classic Swedish game kubb.

On request, a variety of additional activities can be arranged, including climbing on an artificial climbing wall or natural rock, mountain biking, diving, climbing courses, and boating licence training.

Hiking

Grinda offers a network of scenic walking and running trails, many of which are suitable for pushchairs. Routes range from around 20 minutes to three hours, covering distances of approximately 2 to 10 kilometres. The varied terrain includes gravel roads, forest paths, open meadows, rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and beautiful beaches.

If you’re hiking the Stockholm Archipelago Trail, which passes through Grinda, you can disembark at Södra Bryggan (South Pier). From the quay, turn left to join the trail heading west, or follow the gravel road towards the Wärdshus or the cottage area before joining the route there. North of the Wärdshus, the trail becomes narrower, and once you reach the eastern headland and climb to higher ground, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views across the archipelago. From the summit, the trail follows the southern coastline back, offering less technical terrain while still including a few more challenging sections.

The full Grinda stage is approximately 9.8 km long, but you can easily choose to hike only part of it. If you’d like to combine your hike with other islands, this stage connects particularly well with Svartsö and Finnhamn.
