About the accommodation

The beautiful island of Grinda is just a short archipelago boat ride from central Stockholm. The historic Grinda Wärdshus serves classic, well-prepared archipelago cuisine. Stay at the hotel or at Grinda Sea Lodge on the southern side of the island. No matter where you choose to stay, you’ll be surrounded by stunning archipelago nature and breathtaking sea views.

Grinda lies in the heart of the Stockholm archipelago. Its location close to the city has made it a beloved establishment in the best sense of the word. The old restaurant built in 1906 is a well-known landmark for sailors and visitors alike.

At Grinda you’ll find a variety of verandas, dining rooms, and bars to choose from. In Wärdshusets grand dining room, with its sea views, countless legendary guests have enjoyed fine food and drinks over the years. The wine cellar is generous in both size and quality. Here, traditional Swedish archipelago cuisine takes center stage. At the harbor restaurant Framfickan, you’ll find simpler yet equally tasty dishes, live music, and a magnificent sunset. Framfickan’s large wooden deck by the sea is a natural gathering spot for boaters and island visitors alike.

The hotel offers 28 modern double rooms and two King Size rooms, all stylishly decorated. The rooms are located in an annex next to the Wärdshus. On the southern side of the island, Grinda Sea Lodge offers a simpler but equally charming accommodation. Read more about the different options under the “More about the accommodation.”

At the country store with adjoining café, you’ll find most of what you need – and you can also order a meal kit to your accommodation or boat. The bakery offers freshly baked bread and buns from early morning.

Travel information
By boat

The journey to Grinda takes approximately 1–2 hours by boat. You can travel with a Waxholmsbolaget ferry from Strömkajen, next to the Grand Hôtel in central Stockholm, or with a Cinderella archipelago boat from Nybroviken, near Hotel Diplomat.

Private water taxis and charter boats for both small and large groups can also be arranged. If you're arriving by private boat, water taxi, or charter boat, you'll dock at Grinda's guest harbour, located next to the Wärdshus and hotel.

You can also reach Grinda from Lillsved or Boda on Värmdö. From either pier, the boat journey takes only around 10 minutes. Both piers can be reached by car or by connecting bus from Slussen.

Getting around the island

The hotel and Wärdshus are about the same distance from both Södra Bryggan (South Pier) and Norra Bryggan (North Pier)—just under 1 km, or around a 15-minute walk. If you have heavy or bulky luggage, luggage transport can be arranged on request.

For Grinda Sea Lodge, Södra Bryggan is the closest pier. After disembarking, walk approximately 200 metres along the road to Reception Lilla Längan. Just beyond the reception, turn right at the junction and follow the road through the cottage village. After about 300 metres, you'll arrive at Grinda Sea Lodge.

From Norra Bryggan, the walk to Grinda Sea Lodge takes around 30 minutes across the island towards Södra Bryggan. At the junction signposted Stugby / Sea Lodge, continue downhill towards Reception Lilla Längan.
