Welcome to our restaurant Elsas kök

For almost 30 years Elsa Göransson was the manageress at STF Kebnekaise Mountain Station. Her great interest in mountains and people created a pleasant oasis in the mountains of Lapland. As Swedish alpinism grew in popularity, so did the number of visitors. Now, more than 50 years later, we have been inspired by both the conviviality and sense of community surrounding the shared meal and the culinary arts of yesteryear.

Breakfast & Lunch package

A generous breakfast buffet awaits you every morning. We serve freshly baked bread, eggs, spreads, juice, porridge and coffee. Our lunch packages are perfect for your tour. They include sandwiches you make yourself, fruit, raisins, a homemade energy bar and a hot drink.

Lunch

Lunch is served daily from 12:00 to 14:00. We offer classic Swedish home-cooked dishes with a vegetarian option, a varied salad buffet, freshly baked bread from our own bakery – and of course, coffee is included!

Elsa’s food box

Elsa’s food box is a hearty cooked meal that you can enjoy whenever you like. It’s available for purchase in our shop. You’ll find a microwave in the self-catering kitchen in our service building. You’re also welcome to heat your meal on your own stove by your tent. Please note that quantities are limited and food boxes cannot be pre-booked.

Dinner

In Elsa’s day, there were no helicopters and only limited cold storage options. Since sustainability remains a key concern, we are reviving traditional preservation methods and time-tested recipes. With us, satisfying meals go hand in hand with culinary experience. Your plate features meat or fish sourced from the surrounding area. Vegetarian options and allergy-friendly meals are available but must be pre-booked. Please include your dietary request in the message section when making your reservation.

Three-course dinner

We serve a light starter with soup, homemade bread and spreads, a well-prepared main course with northern flavours, and a dessert with coffee or tea.

At 17:30, the bell rings for the first dinner sitting, which ends at 19:00. This sitting is ideal for those planning a summit tour the following day, as it fits with the guides’ information meeting.

The next sitting is at 19:15. Please avoid this time if you’re joining a guided summit tour the next day, as the info meeting takes place at the same time.

The last sitting is at 21:00, best suited for those aiming to summit and wanting to ensure they’re back in time – maybe even with time for a warm shower and sauna before celebrating with dinner.
