About the accommodation

One of the first tourists here was Carl von Linné, who visited Kvikkjokk in 1732 while journeying through Lapland. His poetic descriptions inspired others to visit one of the greatest treasures of the mountain world. Kvikkjokk is an ideal starting point for trips through the Sarek National Park

We offer single rooms and rooms with 2-5 beds. All rooms have hostel standard with sink in the rooms and shower, toilet in the corridor. In some rooms there is also a sofa bed if an extra person wants to come along. The multi-bed rooms have four or five beds. These are available for women’s, men’s and mixed. Bed linen is not included in the room price, but is available for rent.

The restaurant
In the restaurant, a breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and three-course dinner are served in a relaxed and warm atmosphere, and here you can eat with a fantastic view of the Kamajokk rapids and the mountains in Tarradalen. Great care is taken in the choice of raw materials and the emphasis is on locally produced products such as game, berries and char from Padjelanta National Park. After dinner, you can look out over Sarekfjällen from our beautiful “Sällskapsrum” in the old building from 1928.

Bar and cafe
During the afternoon you can also relax in our bar and café. If you want to enjoy a cold beer, there are several varieties to choose from, if you prefer coffee or afternoon tea, there is also that. Hamburgers and light dishes are also served here.

Store
The store has a mixed selection of fresh and dry goods, as well as some outdoor goods. You can find a lot that you need for the mountain trip with us; we have, among other things, maps, mosquito repellent, mosquito hats, gas, alcohol fuel and petrol for the outdoor kitchen.

Opening hours
During the summer season, we are open between 07:30 and 21:00.

Check-in
No earlier than 12:00. Please let us know if you will be late. We then put the key in an envelope.

Check out
No later than 10:00.

Experience Kvikkjokk
Kvikkjokk is one of the oldest Swedish settlements in Lapland. In the 17th century, the mountain village was a local metropolis and a center for processing silver ore from the mine in Alkavare in Sarek. During his Lapland journey, Carl von Linné arrived in the village in 1732 via the boat route from Jokkmokk. During the trip, he collected a substantial part of the material for his systematic mapping of the mountain flora.

Next to Kvikkjokk village there are four lookout mountains. Climbers have always been able to look out over the fjällrand delta in the conifer forest belt and participated closest to the village. In the vicinity of the village, botanists meet to see the rich flora, but no expert knowledge is required to enjoy the floral splendor.

    This accommodation is partly accessible and would like to meet the needs of all guests. However, for various reasons, they do not comply with every one of STF’s accessibility requirements. If you are interested in visiting, we recommend that you contact them before booking to find out what they can offer. In many cases, the accommodation can meet your needs, even though they are only partially compliant with our accessibility standards.

    Travel options
    Kvikkjokk is located farthest west on road 805, 115 km from the crossroads at E 45 and 120 km from Jokkmokk.

    By train and bus:
    Summer season: Train to Murjek and change to direct bus 94 to Kvikkjokk.
    Winter and low season: Train to Murjek, Älvsbyn or Boden. Change to bus towards Jokkmokk and there change to bus 47 towards Kvikkjokk. The bus to Kvikkjokk runs only on weekdays.

    It is a great advantage to buy a train plus ticket when traveling to Kvikkjokk. Sometimes the trains are delayed and there is a risk of missing a connecting bus. On these occasions, SJ helps travelers with train plus with a connecting trip to Kvikkjokk.

    Discount with SJ: All members of STF receive a 10% discount on train journeys with SJ.

    By plane and bus:
    To Gällivare airport or Kallax airport near Luleå. Then bus to Jokkmokk and the next bus on to Kvikkjokk.
