Abisko – Aurora Sky Station Northern light dinner
Skip to booking widgetEnjoy a dining experience in an unbeatable setting at STF Aurora Sky Station, where northern Swedish flavors are accompanied by the magic of the auroras in the sky.
Abisko is one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights! The evening begins with a two-kilometer cable car ride up to the STF Aurora Sky Station, 900 meters above sea level. Here you can enjoy a four-course dinner with flavors from Lapland, while the northern lights dance across the sky. Our guides tell you about the phenomenon, Sami culture, and Lapland’s rich history. The view over Abisko, Lake Torneträsk, and the mountains is unbeatable. On the station’s terrace and observation tower, you can watch for the northern lights and join a shorter guided walk.
In severe weather, the dinner is instead served in our cozy lavvu (wooden hut) in the national park, followed by northern lights viewing and warming drinks with delicacies from northern Sweden.
For the meal, we offer selected wine packages, beer, or non-alcoholic drinks to purchase.

If the chairlift is unable to operate and transport guests to STF Aurora Sky Station for safety reasons due to weather conditions, such as strong winds or extreme cold, dinner will instead be served in our Lavvu (traditional wooden Sámi hut) located in Abisko National Park. Weather conditions in the park are generally less severe than on the mountain, while the opportunities to see the Northern Lights remain just as good.
The decision regarding the dinner venue will be made on the day of the event, and all guests will be notified accordingly.
If dinner is held in the Lavvu, guests will be invited to join their guide on a short walk through the northern part of the national park after dinner, learning about the area’s history, gaining insights into the Northern Lights, and receiving tips on how to observe them. Later in the evening, hot beverages and local northern Swedish delicacies will be served in our wood-fired Lavvu located within the national park.
Bookings for any of STF’s Aurora Sky Station experiences become binding once the cancellation policy takes effect. No refunds will be issued if the chairlift is unable to operate and the experience is held in the Lavvu instead.
