Mountain hikers’ favorite season: Autumn. Among golden birches and crisp air, we invite you to the Panorama Hike on Njulla, the area’s best.

With a chairlift, we ascend for breathtaking views of the Abisko Alps. This 10 km tour is mostly downhill towards the dramatic Kårsavagge Valley, where you can glimpse glaciers. We pass babbling brooks and mossy resting spots. Here you might also spot hares and ptarmigans transforming for winter.

The hike continues through Abisko National Park, where golden birches and gnarled pines create a landscape filled with hidden treasures like lingonberries, blueberries, and cranberries. The tour concludes along the rushing waters of Abiskojåkka, a perfect end to a hike offering the ultimate mix of vast views, autumn forests, and babbling brooks. Join us on the best hike of the autumn.

Program

We meet at the entrance of Abisko Tourist Station at 9:30 AM. From there, we follow the beginning of the King’s Trail (Kungsleden) towards the base station of Mount Nuolja. Here, we take the chairlift up to the mountain station and enjoy the spectacular views.

From the mountain station, we pass STF Aurora Sky Station and then descend into the Kårsavagge Valley, following the trail for approximately 4 km and losing most of the elevation gained by the lift. Along the way, we look for the perfect lunch spot with magnificent views of the Abisko Alps and the iconic Lapporten valley.

At the trail junction in the Kårsavagge Valley, we continue downhill along the Kårsajåkka stream until it joins the Abiskojåkka River, which guides us back towards the tourist station over the final 6 km. We stop at the streams along the way to refill our water bottles and enjoy some snacks.

About the area

Abisko is located in northern Lapland, around 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, and is one of Sweden’s most accessible alpine mountain areas. Abisko National Park offers a well-developed trail system with clearly marked routes, making the area suitable for both shorter trips and longer hikes.

The Kungsleden trail passes through the area, heading south between Lapporten (Čuonjavággi) and Mount Nuolja. To the north of Abisko lies Lake Torneträsk, one of Scandinavia’s largest mountain lakes, contributing to open views and a varied landscape.

The area is known for excellent conditions for seeing the northern lights in winter and the midnight sun in summer. Visitors can follow marked trails independently or join guided tours, and equipment rental is available if needed.

Booking conditions
