Surrounded by good company and a supportive guide, we hike through beautiful landscapes with vast, sweeping views, valleys with large boulders  and past historically significant areas. We will hike along well-hiked trails and through less-visited areas.

It will be a week of exploring magnificent surrounding, combined with the luxury of returning each day to the warmth of the tourist station. Here, deliciously prepared dinners await, helping you recover and recharge for the upcoming days. The grand finale of the week is a soothing session in the wood-fired sauna by Lake Torneträsk, perfect for sore feet and tired muscles. If you’re feeling brave, take a dip in the lake and let the warmth of the sauna meet the icy, crystal-clear water. We end the evening  with a three-course dinner at Restaurant Kungsleden.

Program

Day 1
Meeting at 5:00 PM after the arrival of the late train. We welcome you and the guide will provide information about the upcoming week’s programme and answer any questions you may have. After the meeting, we enjoy a shared three-course dinner at Restaurant Kungsleden.

Day 2
Our first hike takes us to the well-known destination Geargejávri in the Kärkevagge Valley, better known to most visitors as Trollsjön (the Troll Lake). This area is of great geological significance, where the powerful forces of nature have shaped this unique environment over thousands of years. The landscape feels like something out of a fairy tale, with towering cliffs framing rugged boulder fields that transition into a delta and flourishing alpine meadows.

Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, during which you prepare your packed lunch for the day, we take the chairlift up Mount Nuolja. We make a short stop at STF Aurora Sky Station before following the “Glidaren” trail down into the Kårsavagge Valley. Today’s hike is mainly downhill and offers magnificent views across the entire Abisko Valley. Some sections of the trail may be wet, and there is one steeper descent before we reach the valley floor. The rich flora changes from alpine tundra to lush mountain birch forest as the trail winds along the stream back to the tourist station.

Day 4
Today we lace up our hiking boots and head for Sweden’s highest mountain station – Låktatjåkko Mountain Lodge! After a short bus ride, we begin our hike of approximately 9 km and 750 metres of elevation gain each way. Once at the top, you can reward yourself with the famous “Låkta waffle” before we hike back down.

Day 5
Today we once again take the chairlift up Mount Nuolja before continuing on foot to the summit, which offers spectacular views in every direction. From there, we traverse towards the trail leading down to Björkliden. The terrain is partly off-trail and steep in places, but we take our time and enjoy the beautiful views overlooking Kåppasjokk. We follow the stream down to Björkliden, where a vehicle awaits to take us back.

The week concludes with a relaxing session in the wood-fired sauna by Lake Torneträsk, perfect for soothing tired feet and weary muscles. When you’re thoroughly warmed up, you can take a refreshing dip in the ice-cold, crystal-clear water. The evening ends with a shared three-course dinner at Restaurant Kungsleden.

Day 6
The tour ends after breakfast.

The programme may be changed due to weather conditions, snow conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

About the area

Abisko is located in northern Lapland, around 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, and is one of Sweden’s most accessible alpine mountain areas. Abisko National Park offers a well-developed trail system with clearly marked routes, making the area suitable for both shorter trips and longer hikes.

The Kungsleden trail passes through the area, heading south between Lapporten (Čuonjavággi) and Mount Nuolja. To the north of Abisko lies Lake Torneträsk, one of Scandinavia’s largest mountain lakes, contributing to open views and a varied landscape.

The area is known for excellent conditions for seeing the northern lights in winter and the midnight sun in summer. Visitors can follow marked trails independently or join guided tours, and equipment rental is available if needed.

Booking conditions

You can cancel up to 30 days before arrival. After that, no refund will be issued. If the arrangement does not reach the minimum number of participants 30 days before it takes place, it may be cancelled.
