After a day in the mountains, more than just the tent fabric awaits you. The package includes the service fee and access to the mountain station’s facilities. You stay in your own tent, but the entire mountain station is within easy reach. You decide for yourself how many nights to stay. If you wish, you can also add meals when you book.

When you arrive, you choose your own spot in the designated tent area. The service fee is valid for 24 hours from arrival.

The price includes

  • A service fee for your own tent, giving you access to toilets, showers, sauna, self-catering kitchen, drying room, WiFi, charging for your devices, recycling facilities and common areas.

The service fee helps us keep our mountain stations open and well maintained, covering everything from water and sewage to waste management and transport. Read more about what the fee goes towards and what applies when you camp near a mountain station here (opens in a new window).

Important information

There are plenty of great tent spots around STF Kebnekaise Mountain Station, so you can choose what you want to wake up to.

The mountain birch forest is the most popular spot. The birches give good shelter when the wind picks up.
Mastberget has a magnificent view over the valley, but it is more exposed to the wind.
Up towards Kaipak you will also find plenty of good places to pitch your tent.

You will find a guide to the tent spots on STF Kebnekaise Mountain Station’s Instagram (opens in a new window).

Pitch your tent at least 150 metres from the nearest building. When you arrive, go to reception and collect your service wristband, which gives you access to the facilities.

About the area

The Kebnekaise area in the Kiruna mountains is Sweden’s highest mountain region and the starting point for ascents of Kebnekaise. The landscape is characterised by high alpine terrain with glaciers, steep peaks and wide valleys.

There is an extensive trail system here, ranging from easier day trips to more demanding alpine routes. Summit tours require careful planning and proper equipment, while there are also more accessible options in the surrounding area.

The area is most commonly reached by hiking from Nikkaluokta and is part of both the northern Kungsleden trail and the Dag Hammarskjöld Trail.

Booking conditions

You can cancel up to 3 days before arrival. After that, no refunds are given.
