About the accommodation

This hostel was built as a home for the local forester nearly 100 years ago. It is in central Jokkmokk at walking distance from shops, tourist attractions, restaurants and the tourist information office.

In addition to the renowned market, there are many reasons to visit Jokkmokk. Muddus, Sarek, Padjelanta and Stora Sjöfallet national parks are nearby and attract tourists from all over the world. The world heritage site Laponia offers a fascinating insight into the history, lifestyle and traditions of the Sami culture as does the Fjäll- och Samemuseet Ájtte (Mountain and Sami Museum), also in Jokkmokk.

Åsgård was built in the 1920’s for Domänverket (state owned forestry company) as residence for its forester. Today it is a cosy place to stay, close to all the sights and centrally located in the middle of Jokkmokk. The winter market is literally just around the corner.

Travel information
The guesthouse is situated right across from the tourist office, in the centre of Jokkmokk. Naturally, we have parking spaces for your car.

By foot it is 300 meters from the inland train station (only operated in summertime) and 100 meters from nearest bus stop at Åsgatan. The address is Åsgatan 20. Jokkmokk is 160 km's from the airport in Luleå (road 97) and also have good connections by bus from Luleå, Gällivare and Arvidsjaur.

By train you can arrive in Murjek all year around (30 km bus transfer to Jokkmokk).
