STF Sälen Gräsheden Hostel

The hostel is surrounded by nature conservation areas and nature reserves, making it just as well suited to summer as to winter activities, whether you want to hike the Kungsleden trail, go fly fishing or ski downhill in Sälen and Trysil. Both ski trails and a snowmobile trail start just outside the door.

The hostel has several different room types, from comfortable single rooms to practical family rooms and traditional dormitories. All rooms have a washbasin, and some also have their own toilet. Showers and a sauna are located in the corridor. For guests with reduced mobility, there are rooms with wide doors, a ramped entrance and an adapted bathroom. There are also a number of rooms where pets are welcome. You cook your meals in the pleasant guest kitchen, and if you’d rather not pack your own bed linen, you can rent it on site.

If you want to experience nature on foot, one of Sweden’s longest hiking trails is not far away. The trail is part of the E1, which stretches all the way down to Naples in Italy. Within an hour’s drive you can reach Njupeskär, Sweden’s highest waterfall, and Fulufjället, the country’s newest national park. The quiet country roads also offer great cycling.

Cross-country ski trails start right at the door. The nearest ski resort with groomed cross-country trails and ski slopes is in Stöten, and the other resorts in the Sälen area are within half an hour. STF Sälen/Gräsheden Hostel is also well placed for day trips to Trysil in Norway. The Sälen mountains and Fulufjället offer a varied range of ski touring, from day trips to somewhat longer multi-day tours.
