STF Skutskepparn and Högbondens Fyr

In the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site Höga Kusten, you will find these two accommodations with distinct characters. They can easily be combined for a complete and memorable stay. Begin your experience with good food and pleasant company at Skutskepparn’s restaurant, then enjoy a restful night in freshly made beds upstairs.
The next day, savour a well-prepared breakfast buffet before heading off by boat to the simpler hostel on Högbonden. Here you stay in the former lighthouse keeper’s residence, dramatically perched high on the cliffs with spectacular views. You can prepare your own meals and, if you wish, bring your own bed linen and towels.

Skutskepparns Kuststation is located in the old fishing village of Barsta in the parish of Nordingrå. Rhode and Örjan, who run Skutskepparn, also operate a small farm with around fifteen cows, two horses, chickens, cats and dogs. Here you stay at a cosy bed and breakfast with breakfast included and beds made on arrival, with direct access to the Höga Kusten hiking trails just outside the door.

Högbondens fyr is dramatically located on a cliff edge with sweeping views across the island of Högbonden. It is Sweden’s second-highest lighthouse site, beautifully situated in the heart of the High Coast World Heritage area. Accommodation is simple hostel standard, with the option to add breakfast and a traditional herring platter.
