Boats in the mountains

The mountains are cast, and depending on how you plan your adventure, you may come across big lakes and streams. This page contains timetables, contact information and other information about boat transport in the mountains. Keep in mind that some places have no cellphone coverage. When they do, only Telia usually works.

The page was last updated 21/5/2024. This information applies until further notice and may be updated at a later date.

Boats along Kungsleden

If you hike Kungsleden north of Kvikkjokk, you need a boat in four places – Aktse, Sitojaure, Saltoluokta and at Teusajaure. In Aktse and Teusajaure there are rowing boats available, but you can also join the scheduled boat trips. Between Saltoluokta and Kebnats there are no rowing boats available, you need to get on the passenger boat M / S Langas on schedule times. From the summer of 2021, there will no longer be any rowing boats in Sitojaure. See the Länsstyrelsens website for more information.

Kungsleden south of Kvikkjokk also has boat trails. The first transport starts in Kvikkjokk and is about 3 km. The strong currents means rowing boats are not available. The next boat trail is over Riebnes lake, and there is no rowing boat here either. Before Jäkkvik there is a short third boat train, with only rowing boats. Between Jäkkvik and Hemavan boat transport is available.

Please note that all boat traffic must be paid in cash.

If you use rowing boats, there should always be at least one rowing boat at each beach. If you get to a side with only one rowing boat, you must first row across and tug a boat back, and leave it where you came from Before continuing on the trail. For further information, call the County Administrative Board’s Mountain Administration on +46 10-225 50 00.

Some boat transport is run by STF, and some by private actors.
