Boats in the mountains
On this page you’ll find timetables, contact details and other information about boat services in the mountains.
This page was last updated on 2026-05-08.
In the mountains, boats can be an important part of the journey – both for crossing lakes and shortening certain hiking sections. Some boat transfers must be booked in advance, while in other places you row yourself. Make sure to plan your trip well in advance and note that not all boat trips can be booked through STF. Payment is often made in cash or via Swish, but mobile coverage may be limited.
Rowboats in the mountains
Rowboats are available in several locations in the mountains. Always consider safety before setting out – mountain weather can change quickly and strong winds can make lakes difficult to cross by rowboat. In windy conditions, we recommend choosing a motorboat transfer instead if possible.
If you use rowboats, there must always be at least one boat on each shore. If you arrive at a shore with only one boat, you must first row across, tow another boat back and leave it on the original shore. Only then can you continue along the trail.
