STF Forsvik Hostel

More about STF Forsvik Hostel

At Forsvik’s Works you can experience a genuine industrial environment with a history spanning the 1800s and 1900s. However Forsvik’s Works dates from a much earlier period – industrial activity can be traced back to the middle ages and Forsvik contributed to Gustav Vasa’s castle construction in Vadstena. Industrial activity has existed continuously in Forsvik for over six hundred years, beginning with a saw-mill, a hammersmith and a flour mill, all run by water power.

The buildings you see today are the remains of an industry built up at Forsvik during the late 19th century. Skaraborg’s first industry with engineering works and a foundry were founded here.
Today, Forsvik's Works has been turned into an industrial heritage site with museum exhibitions, industrial handicraft and seminars, focusing on the specific history of Forsvik. Forsvik’s Works is a venue during the summer months for theatre, dance and music where the industrial surroundings provide an interesting and creative backdrop.
