Booking & Accommodation

Are there drying rooms?

Yes, drying rooms are available on every floor.

What room types are available?

STF Grövelsjön Mountain Station offers Budget and Standard Twin Rooms, as well as Standard and Superior Four-Bed Rooms. All room types are also available as pet-friendly rooms.

Can I camp on the premises?

Yes, camping pitches are available. Please register at reception upon arrival. Camping pitches cannot be booked in advance.

Do I need to book accommodation in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking in advance to ensure availability. At the mountain station, you may sometimes be able to book upon arrival, subject to availability.

Do I have to share a room with others?

No, our rooms are booked as private rooms for you and your party. Exceptions may apply for certain events or arrangements.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs are welcome in our pet-friendly rooms. Please remember to add your pet when booking your room. Dogs are allowed in selected common areas and on outdoor terraces.

Can I borrow a baby cot?

Yes, travel cots are available subject to availability (not available in Budget Rooms).

Are duvets and pillows provided in the rooms?

Yes, all beds are equipped with a duvet and pillow. Bed linen can be rented on site or booked in advance.

Food & Restaurant

Do I need to book dinner?

Yes, dinner must be booked no later than the day before arrival. Please also inform us of any dietary requirements when booking.

Is there a children’s menu?

Yes, the restaurant offers child-friendly options.

What is included in breakfast?

The breakfast buffet includes freshly baked bread, porridge, yogurt, eggs, coffee, and other breakfast favorites. Read more under the Food & Drink section.

Can I prepare my own meals?

Yes, there are two fully equipped guest kitchens as well as a smaller kitchen for preparing packed lunches.

Is there a restaurant?

Yes, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with views of the mountains. There is also a café and waffle service.

Services & Facilities

Can I store my luggage with you?

Yes, luggage storage is available for staying guests.

Do you offer WiFi?

Yes, free WiFi is available in guest rooms and common areas.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available at the mountain station. Electric vehicle charging is also available.

Can I receive parcels or mail?

Yes, this is possible. Please note that delivery times may be longer than usual.

The Mountains & Activities

How is mobile phone coverage in the mountains?

Coverage is generally good in the area but may vary depending on your location and mobile operator.

How far apart are STF’s mountain cabins?

Our mountain cabins are located in scenic locations 10-25 km from each other, which is just a day trip for most people. Read more about our mountain cabins and look at a map to get an idea of how far it is between the specific cabins you want to visit.

Can I camp in the mountains?

Yes, under Sweden’s Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten), camping is permitted.

If you choose to camp by one of STF’s mountain cabins or mountain stations there’s a service charge, for which you get access to the services the cabin or station provides. Read more about our tent and service fees.

How is the weather usually in the area?

For a comprehensive and up-to-date weather forecast, we recommend accessing the SMHI website (opens in new tab) or using a weather forecast app that’s available on your mobile phone. It is important to keep in mind that the weather can change very quickly in the mountains, so pack your backpack for varying weather conditions.

Can I pre-book beds in the STF mountain cabins?

Yes, you can pre-book beds in the mountain cabins. You can read all about it in our guide about prices, booking and payment in the cabins.

Can I fish in the area?

Yes, there are several excellent fishing waters in the Grövelsjön Mountains. A fishing permit is required.
